The Land Registry Section is headed by the registrar of Lands. The duties of the Registrar of Lands and the Functions of the Department are guided by the Land Registration Act No. 12 of 1984.
Purpose of Section
Maintenance of a Proprietorship Index of all registered landowners.
Maintenance of an Index Map of all registered land parcels.
Registration and recording of all transactions pertaining to land.
Assistance in settling boundary disputes and disputes which may arise with owners in common in the partitioning of lands.
Registration of Powers of Attorney relating to land.
Registration of change of address and change of name of proprietors of land.
Declaration of title to persons who have acquired title to land by prescription (i.e. thirty years peaceful occupation as owner).

Registration of Cautions and other land Related transactions.
Application for Mutation (subdivision/partition).
Private Searches by Surveyors, Valuation Officers and Notaries.
